The appointment comes as part of a strategic refocus to concentrate on growing the core capabilities of the business.

Chairman of Exemplas John Heywood said: “We recognise that the ways in which businesses are consuming information, advice and support are changing. The way we develop and deploy remote and digital service delivery to complement our advisory capabilities is of great strategic importance to the success of our business. With David’s appointment I am confident that Exemplas will succeed with this goal and will continue to deliver services that add value to our clients and ultimately contribute to a better future for Britain’s businesses.”

Since its launch, Exemplas has provided over half a million Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) with advice and support to help business needs and their potential for growth. Mr Moule has over 18 years’ experience in developing and delivering business services on behalf of both public and private sector commercial partners.

Prior to this appointment, Mr Moule was deputy CEO at Exemplas for three years, so is well-placed to drive the company forward, whilst understanding and maintaining its vision and goals. He will now lead Exemplas as it embarks on a new strategic approach to develop future business across both the commercial and public sector.

Mr Moule said: “I am delighted to be named as the CEO at such an exciting time for the company. My priority is to help drive forward Exemplas, to create new and innovative ways of engaging with our markets whilst ensuring we continue to add value to our clients as they face the challenges and opportunities operating in the current business environment.

“I understand many of the challenges that face businesses, as a business operating in a competitive market and want to shape the future direction of Exemplas so that it strongly resonates with the wants and needs of our clients. I will make sure Exemplas remains at the forefront of such developments and maintains the high standards we have set.”

Exemplas

  • Exemplas has successfully delivered publically-funded business-support contracts worth over £250 million, from Business Link to UKTI, Train to Gain to Skills Brokerage and the Leadership & Management Advisory Service.  And we have been named the UK’s most successful organisation for delivering contracted volumes and customer satisfaction.
  • We are far more than a contract-delivery organisation. As a highly successful business-improvement consultancy in our own right, we have focused on the area where we can bring the greatest value to our clients and the UK economy as a whole: the SME sector. SMEs account for over 99% of the UK’s firms, nearly a half of all private-sector employment and around a third of private-sector turnover.
  • As an SME ourselves, we share their values, objectives and passion for progress.  In addition, the human and social dimensions of business support are as at least as important to us as economic factors. We want to see people in employment, fulfilling their dreams and empowering healthy communities. That is why we reinvest any profit we make into supporting and nourishing the SME sector.
  • It’s why we use innovative ways of working and streamlined, technology-enabled new routes to advice to ensure our business support skills are accessible to all. And it’s why, with the academic rigour of one of the UK’s most entrepreneurial universities alongside us, we are acknowledged as thought-leaders in creating sustainable organisations.
  • We are passionately committed to working with policy-makers, our SME peers, major corporates and academics to do everything we can together to create the best possible environment for the UK’s smaller businesses to flourish.
